Game news Resident Evil 9: title, places and characters, a potential leak tells us more
Resident Evil 9 is very likely in development, although Capcom hasn’t confirmed anything yet: it must be said that after the end of Resident Evil Village, itself being the sequel to Resident Evil VII, everyone is impatiently waiting for a new section for this unpublished trilogy. A big leak published on 4chan reveals potential first information.
Resident Evil Apocalypse?
It goes without saying that with Resident Evil VII and its sequel Resident Evil Village, the saga has been revived and the scenario clearly indicates that a new game is in preparation to conclude (?) this new trilogy. First of all, Capcom’s plans are obviously for the highly anticipated remake of Resident Evil 4, but the first rumors about Resident Evil 9 are already starting to hatch.
The latest to date has just been released on 4chan, moreover archived by the moderators. We recall that this pattern had already occurred for the previous opus, the leak then contained a ton of truthful information (and the same was true for Resident Evil 7). However, it should be taken with a grain of salt.even if the author of the leak claims to be 100% sure of the following details.
The game would then be called – maybe internally – Resident Evil Apocalypsewith the possibility of the word Moon being integrated into the final title or on the jacket. The plot would take place in a ghost town in the West populated by mythical monsters, like goatmen and wendigos, and would revolve around nine full moons desired by one of the characters. The frame would include various decorations such as caves, a river, a small town and even a campsite.
You may have understood it, but the penchant for occultism already chosen by Resident Evil Village would be taken up here and even reinforced. For instance, some enemies would then be able to assume human form, posing as friendly NPCs before attacking. Information that would corroborate that already broadcast by another leaker some time ago.
The freak back
The leak also tells us more about certain characters and enemies. First of all, the main antagonist would again be a woman, going by the name of Glaistig and dressed in a green dress, covered with golden elements, and resembling a witch. Something to remind Mother Miranda of the previous adventure: this mysterious Glaistig would act as a recurring enemy, like the Nemessis, Mr. X or Lady Dimitrescu.
A new character would also be introduced, namely Hulder, a woman who would also be a biological weapon and who would assist the player as a main guide. Moreover, the merchant of Village, the Duke, would sign his return in this new adventure, whilean important character of the saga would appear for the last time.
This Resident Evil Apocalypse would also offer several bosses including the Barghest, a “giant black dog” that would chase the protagonist from house to house. Note that the notion of horror and dread would always be present, with the ability to barricade themselves in a room to slow down attackers.
Already clues in Resident Evil Village?
To go together, a car discovered in Resident Evil Village would support this potential massive leak : the license plate of this one would precisely coincide with the previous information. Thereby, “NX” would refer to “next”, “23” to the year 2023 and “APO” to “Apocalypse”, which is the presumed name of the game.
Note that the 2023 release year would no longer really be relevant because of Resident Evil 4 which, according to rumors, was to be released in 2022 before being postponed to next January. Unless it is the 2023 fiscal year, which will then end in 2024…
Once again, it is necessary not to take everything at face value and not to get carried away too quickly. Capcom is nevertheless regularly subject to leaks and even without mentioning those of RE7 and Village, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has also leaked on the web many times before its announcement. We would therefore not be surprised if today’s case proves true, or at least in part.
