Game News MultiVersus: A new record estimated at the height of its success

Largely inspired by Super Smash Bros, MultiVersus, the flagship multiplayer fighting game of the moment, seems to have found its audience. For a few days now, not only has the title been talked about, but it has also been stringing together a few records.

The star of the summer!

Launched in open beta since July 26, MultiVersus seems to have found the right recipe to seduce players. Drawing its inspiration from Nintendo’s famous Super Smash Bros, the title nevertheless becomes a serious competitor. Armed with its cast of characters from the Warner Bros universe and its free-to-play business model, MultiVersus achieves a first attendance record on Steam even before its transition to open beta.

Then it was no surprise… this record was quickly shattered as soon as the public beta servers opened according to the figures estimated by SteamDB with the recording of a peak of 144,456 players connected simultaneously on Steam. Obviously, these figures do not take into account players on PlayStation or Xbox but they remain a good indicator of the popularity of the game, especially since a new record has just been estimated.

5 million players!

According to the PC Gamer site, a player who played almost 29 games found himself ranked at rank 4,929,968 in the world, which suggests that the milestone of 5 million players would have been crossed. While waiting for Player First Games to communicate the official figures, it is undeniable that MultiVersus is enjoying real success.

It remains to be seen whether the craze will be able to continue or not, knowing that the development studio is already promising future additional content. For example, it will be necessary to wait for the launch of the first season scheduled for August 9 to see the landing a new character named Morty. Rickhim, should come to swell the ranks of the roster from August 23. Furthermore, many balances and other adjustments are also planned in the program, like the Taz tornado which was recently corrected for example. In the same way, it will soon be the turn of Bugs Bunny and Wonder Woman to undergo some modifications following some feedback from the players. The game has therefore not said its last word and seems to still have a few tricks up its sleeve.
