Game News Final Fantasy 7: it’s official, a Cloud NFT will be put on sale by Square-Enix
Square-Enix has already shown its interest in the blockchain and this news goes very precisely in this direction: an NFT of the iconic Cloud will see the light of day. Here are the details.
More cloud gaming than ever
Final Fantasy VII has been around for twenty-five years now. A cult game among legends that has done a lot for video game culture and was present at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, which is being held right now: Square-Enix has announced the forthcoming marketing of several figurines bearing the image of Cloud, the famous protagonist of the adventure that needs no introduction.
The first of the statuettes is a signed representation BringArts, 15.2 x 5.7 x 2.7 centimeters. She has 24 points of articulation and Cloud’s face is closer to the video game or anime than the remake: so far so good and if you’re interested know that she costs 129, 99€.
Where the proposal surprises, is that there is also a “Digital Plus” edition which also includes the same statuette… but in the form of an NTF, that is to say entirely digital and with a certificate of authenticity. This non-fungible token is sold with the figurine (physical, her) for the overall price of 159.99 euros.
Square-Enix definitely interested in web 3.0
This initiative is actually not so surprising. More and more video game players have already shown interest in NFTs and blockchainwith however more or less success: we can mention Ubisoft with its Qwartz platform, but also Konami which has already unveiled several digital objects auctioned.
As for Square-Enix, the Japanese publisher recently invested the tidy sum of thirty-five million dollars in Zebedeea startup developing an ecosystem for video game players and developers interested in the application of cryptocurrencies. It remains to be seen what the reaction of the fans will be, in particular of Final Fantasy…
